How League Finder works
League Finder helps players and parents discover real basketball, hockey, and soccer leagues across Canada — and helps organizers get found. Here's exactly how we source, verify, and label what you see.
Where listings come from
Every entry falls into one of two buckets, and we always tell you which:
How we keep it accurate
A directory is only useful if you can trust it. So:
- Every listing shows the month it was last verified.
- Listings we haven't re-checked in over 90 days are flagged "may be outdated", and we stop asserting their registration status as current.
- Anyone can report a listing that's wrong — a dead link, a closed league, an incorrect detail.
- We review reports and new-league submissions weekly, and we suppress duplicate, test, or low-quality entries before they ever reach you.
How we gather public information responsibly
When we compile an external listing from a league's public website, our directory bot:
- Honours each site's robots.txt and only visits pages it's allowed to.
- Crawls slowly, within conservative page and rate limits, identifying itself clearly.
- Collects only factual public information — league name, sport, city, registration status, and official links.
- Skips anything behind a login, paywall, or captcha, and never publishes private personal data.
Common questions
Where do League Finder listings come from?
Two sources. "Powered by LeagueArc" entries are leagues that run on the LeagueArc platform, so their data is live. External entries are factual public directory listings compiled from leagues' own public websites and registration pages.
Are external leagues affiliated with LeagueArc?
No. An external listing is a factual public directory entry and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by LeagueArc unless the organizer has claimed it.
How do you keep listings accurate?
Each listing carries the date it was last verified. Listings that have not been re-checked recently are labelled as potentially outdated, and anyone can report a listing that is wrong. We review reports and submissions weekly.
How do you collect public information responsibly?
Our directory bot honours each website's robots.txt, crawls slowly within conservative limits, collects only factual public information, and skips anything behind a login, paywall, or captcha. We never publish private personal data.
I run a league here — how do I claim or fix my listing?
Use "Claim this listing" to verify ownership and request updates, or "Report outdated info" to flag a specific problem. You can also run your whole league on LeagueArc to manage registration, payments, scheduling, and standings in one place.
