How to Correct a Game Score

Correct a finalized sports score, recheck player statistics and standings, and preserve an auditable game record.

The short answer

Open the exact game from Matches or Live Scoring, verify the teams and season, use the supported correction action, and save the verified score. Then recheck standings, player statistics, and any bracket advancement affected by the original result. Never correct a result by editing a different duplicate game.

Before you start

  • Administrator or authorized scoring access.
  • The game identifier, teams, date, and correct result.
  • Supporting evidence such as the official scoresheet.
  • Awareness of downstream standings or playoff impact.

Step-by-step instructions

Identify the exact game

Filter Matches by league and season, then verify the date, venue, and both teams. If duplicate games exist, stop and resolve which record was actually played.

Preserve the evidence

Keep the official scoresheet or organizer ruling. Record why the result is changing so another administrator can understand the correction.

Open the correction workflow

Use the game console or supported score correction action. If the game was a forfeit, preserve the explicit forfeit winner instead of converting it casually to a normal final.

Enter the verified result

Correct team scores and any player statistics that came from the bad result. Save only after totals reconcile.

Recalculate downstream views

Open Standings and Player Stats to confirm the correction is reflected. For playoff games, verify the bracket participant and advancement state before another round is played.

Communicate the correction

Tell affected teams what changed and why. Avoid deleting evidence or presenting the original result as if it never existed.

What success looks like

The authoritative game record reflects the verified result, with downstream standings and statistics checked for consistency.

Common errors and fixes

Standings still show the old result

Confirm the corrected game is countable, belongs to the selected season, and was saved successfully before refreshing standings.

Player totals no longer match

Review the game's player events or stat rows and correct them alongside the team score.

A playoff participant is wrong

Stop scheduling the next round and use the supported bracket correction path so advancement and the linked game remain consistent.
