Game day
How to Prepare Scorekeepers for Weak Wi-Fi
Give the right scoring access, preload the browser-based game console, verify its ready state, and reconcile offline events after reconnecting.
The short answer
Create or verify an authorized scorekeeper, assign the correct game, and have the device open that game's browser console while online before leaving reliable Wi-Fi. Confirm the ready or synced state, then reconnect after the game and verify every queued event before finalizing.
Before you start
- An authorized scorekeeper account in the same organization.
- A scheduled game and scoring assignment or authorized link.
- A supported phone or tablet browser.
- A brief period of reliable internet before and after the game.
Step-by-step instructions
Verify the account
Confirm the user belongs to the active organization and has the required scorekeeper or administrator role.
Assign the game
Open the intended game and confirm the scorekeeper can reach its console. Do not share a console for a different game.
Load while online
On the device that will be used, open the game console once while connected and wait for its ready or synced indication.
Run a short rehearsal
Enter and remove a test event before game day when policy allows, or use a practice game, so the scorekeeper understands periods, corrections, and finalization.
Score without closing the page
During an outage, keep the console open and avoid clearing browser storage. Watch the local sync state rather than assuming an event reached the server.
Reconnect and reconcile
Restore connectivity, wait for queued events to sync, compare totals with the official sheet, and only then mark the game Final.
What success looks like
Common errors and fixes
Access is denied
Check the user's organization, role, game assignment, and the exact authorized link before game time.
The console was never loaded
Move to a connection and open the correct game; offline readiness cannot be established after the device has no cached game context.
Events remain queued
Keep the page open on a stable connection, wait for sync, and compare against the paper record before entering duplicates.
