How to Create a Registration Waiver
Create, review, attach, test, and track a league waiver without editing the text after people have signed it.
The short answer
Create the waiver in Waivers for the correct organization and league, use reviewed legal text, activate it, and attach it to the intended registration flow. Test the signature experience before launch and preserve signed versions rather than silently changing terms after acceptance.
Before you start
- Administrator access.
- League-approved waiver text reviewed for the applicable jurisdiction.
- A destination league and registration flow.
- A policy for minors and guardians where required.
Step-by-step instructions
Prepare approved text
Obtain the exact title and body approved by the league. LeagueArc provides workflow storage, not legal advice.
Create the waiver
Open Waivers, select the intended league when prompted, enter the title and text, and save it inside the current organization.
Set its active state
Activate only the current version. Retire obsolete versions without destroying their historical signature records.
Attach it to registration
Open the target season's Registration setup and require the waiver in the appropriate signup path.
Test the signer experience
Verify the text, acknowledgement, signer identity, guardian path, and required state on both desktop and mobile.
Monitor signatures
Review waiver signature status from Waivers or Registrations and follow up before participation according to league policy.
What success looks like
Common errors and fixes
The waiver does not appear
Confirm it is active, belongs to the same organization and league, and is attached to the selected registration flow.
A registrant bypasses the field
Check that the waiver is required and retest the exact public form being shared.
Text needs a legal update
Create or publish the revised version prospectively and preserve the historical version and signatures.
