How to Open Online Sports Registration
Configure season registration dates, fees, capacity, approvals, waivers, payments, and the public signup path before launch.
The short answer
Choose the league and season in Registrations, configure who can register, the open and close dates, price, capacity, approvals, waivers, questions, and payment method, then test the public form. Opening registration is a launch checklist, not a single toggle.
Before you start
- Administrator access.
- A saved season with correct dates.
- A registration price and capacity policy.
- Stripe connected for online card payments or clear offline instructions.
Step-by-step instructions
Choose the registration type
Decide whether the public flow is for individual players, free agents, or teams and whether submissions require approval.
Set the window and capacity
Enter opening and closing dates, capacity, and waitlist behavior. Make sure the current date is inside the intended window when testing.
Configure fees
Set the registration fee, supported installment options, discounts, and payment method. Reconcile every displayed amount.
Add required information
Attach current waivers and add only the custom questions staff will actually use. Mark required fields deliberately.
Test as a registrant
Open the public form signed out, complete a test without charging a real card where possible, and inspect mobile layout and confirmation text.
Share the canonical link
Publish one registration URL from the public site and Navigation. Monitor capacity, payment, approval, and waitlist status from Registrations.
What success looks like
Common errors and fixes
Registration says closed
Check season status, registration dates, capacity, and waitlist settings.
The payment option is missing
Confirm the season payment method is enabled and the organization's Stripe connection is active.
The wrong form is shared
Return to the selected league and season, copy its public link, and replace stale navigation or email links.
