How to Create a Round-Robin Schedule
Create a round-robin sports schedule from teams, dates, time slots, venues, and blackout rules, then review every fixture before publishing.
The short answer
Create the league and season first, add at least two teams, then open the schedule wizard. Choose the round-robin format, season dates, playable days, time slots, venues, and games per matchup. LeagueArc builds a draft schedule for review; nothing should be shared until team, date, time, and venue conflicts are checked.
Before you start
- League administrator access to the correct organization.
- A league and season with start and end dates.
- At least two teams assigned to that season.
- Venues and usable game times if games need locations.
Step-by-step instructions
Open the schedule workflow
From the league workspace, choose the correct league and season, open Matches, and start the schedule wizard. Confirm the season shown in the selector before continuing.
Choose round robin
Select a single round robin when every team should meet once, or the available home-and-away option when each pairing should be repeated. The total game count grows quickly as teams are added.
Set dates and playable days
Enter the schedule window and choose the weekdays that can host games. Keep the window wide enough for the number of pairings and any rest requirements.
Add time slots and venues
Enter the game times and available venues. A slot is only useful when it falls on a playable day and is not blocked for the venue or either team.
Generate the draft
Run generation and read any constraint warnings. The scheduler creates games inside the active organization and selected season; it does not publish a public announcement automatically.
Review before publishing
Check every team for duplicate times, long gaps, back-to-backs, missing venues, and blackout conflicts. Correct the inputs and regenerate when the draft is not workable.
What success looks like
Common errors and fixes
No schedule can be generated
Confirm there are at least two season teams and enough playable date, time, and venue slots for the requested games.
A team plays too often
Reduce games per matchup or add more playable dates so the generator has room to spread fixtures.
A venue conflict appears
Add or correct the venue blackout, remove the unavailable slot, and regenerate before sharing the schedule.
