How to Schedule Around Venue Blackouts

Block unavailable venue dates, generate a schedule that respects them, and diagnose conflicts before games are published.

The short answer

Add the venue first, record every unavailable date as a venue blackout, and only then generate or revise the season schedule. LeagueArc checks organization-scoped venue and team blackouts while placing games, but administrators should still review the finished draft.

Before you start

  • Administrator access.
  • A venue in the current organization.
  • The exact unavailable dates from the facility.
  • A season schedule window.

Step-by-step instructions

Confirm the venue

Open Venues and confirm the facility name, location, and active status. Do not create a duplicate venue to work around unavailable dates.

Add blackout dates

Record each unavailable day against the venue. Use a clear reason such as holiday closure, tournament booking, or maintenance so another administrator can audit it.

Check the schedule window

Make sure the blackouts fall inside the season dates and that enough alternate playable slots remain.

Generate or regenerate

Run the schedule workflow after the blackouts are saved. The scheduler excludes blocked venue dates and also checks team blackout dates.

Review conflicts

Scan the proposed fixtures by venue and date. If a blocked date still appears, verify that the game and blackout reference the same organization-scoped venue record.

Handle a late closure

For a blackout added after publication, reschedule the affected games individually and communicate the changes; do not rely on regeneration to preserve every manual edit.

What success looks like

Games are placed only in usable venue slots, with late facility changes handled through deliberate rescheduling.

Common errors and fixes

The generator reports too few slots

Add dates, times, or venues, or reduce the number of requested games. A blackout removes capacity from the schedule.

A blackout is ignored

Confirm its scope is Venue, its venue matches the game venue, and its date is correct in the organization's timezone.

An existing game remains on a newly blocked date

Move or cancel that game manually; adding a blackout protects new scheduling but should not silently rewrite a published fixture.
